Georgea Blakey

<< Other Artists

Singer and songwriter Georgea Blakey is really a new bohemian, with singing not the only string to her bow. Artist, actress, singer, songwriter, musician, comedienne and film producer are all part of her repertoire.

Georgea is a drama and art scholar from St Paul's Girls School and Chelsea College of Art and was accepted into the London School of Musical Theatre twice, but a freak accident to her left wrist meant she had to turn it down. Instead she threw herself into her art and learnt the music trade playing the tough circuits.

She was in the original Wild Child band "Les Enfants de Rock " with Amanda De Cadenet and Emma Ridley, supported Sigue Sigue Sputnik and played the Empire on Leicester Square. In Los Angeles she played several venues with her heavy metal band, Georgea and the Wheels, with a guitarist taught by Carlos Santana and Guns and Roses' session man on drums. Georgea has also played Sun City, been part of the acoustic circuit in London, playing the Mean Fiddler and the Garage amongst other venues, along with David Gray and Faithless and played at the Soho Jazz Festival at Ronnie Scotts alongside Bush. Georgea has played benefit galas at the Hilton and Royal Ascot and also sang at the London Irish Rugby Stadium on St Patrick's Day in front of a 20,000 strong crowd! Her latest gig at the jazz room at Pizza on the Park was sold out.

Georgea is additionally a portrait artist, specialising in equestrian and wildlife subjects. Her commissions have taken her from the polo farms of Argentina and Palm Beach to the game reserves of South Africa. Last year she sold a portrait of Prince Charles with his polo pony to Sir Tim Rice and other clients include Viscount and Viscountess Cowdray, the Sultan of Pahang, Eric and Julia Morley, Miss World and M & C Saatchi.

And there's no pin-holing Georgea simply into music and art. She has also appeared in music videos and commercials. Not only that, she has worked on the other side of the camera as associate producer on 'Biggie and Tupac', a film by cult director Nick Broomfield about the unsolved murders of the rappers, which won prestigious awards at both its US and UK premieres.

Recently she has been performing her own brand of comic musical cabaret on the UK stand up circuit, appearing at The Comedy Cafe, The Amused Moose, The Comedy Store, Live Bar and the Wibbley Wobbley Boat amongst others.
